Artists' Date Artists' Date is a national pool of volunteers from three areas: - Artists of all art forms and levels of experience
- Arts venues and events managers
- Politicians from all parties and levels of experience from Assembly Members, County Councillors and Town Councillors
|
|
The idea is to pair up an artist and a politician to an arts event.
They will be initially met by the arts venue / events manager and once the introductions have been made all three people will have an opportunity to talk for 15 / 20 minutes prior to the arts event.
The artist and politician experience the art event together be it a day time event or an evening show.
After both artist and politician will be expected to socialise with each other to discuss the event specifically, arts and politics generally and areas of mutual interest and / or concern.
The rationale for such a scheme is three fold:
|
|
- To allow the arts to speak for themselves.
- To give a politician the opportunity to experience an arts event through the eyes and ears and mind of an artist and the artist an opportunity to perceive the arts from the point of view of a politician.
- To help create a more informed, understanding, vibrant and creative culture, both locally and nationally and a sustainable infrastructure for the participatory arts.
“Opens doors, opens minds, gets communication going between grass roots and upper echelons…….It is a very good idea.” Eleanor Burnham. “One startling revelation that came out of the Artist Date is that. Eleanor stated she is not working for herself, but working for Wales and that is the same for a vast majority of artists” Eleri Mills To join the Artists' Date scheme download the application form below or contact the office on info@vaw.org.uk or 01938 556455 Application for artists of all art forms (doc - 25k) Application for arts venues and events managers (doc - 26k) Application for Local Councillors (doc - 26k) Application for County Councillors (doc - 26k) Application for Assembly Members (doc - 26k) |
